FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's men's basketball team used a 16-0 run to open the second half and eventually built a 21-point lead before holding on for an 87-74 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over University of Lynchburg tonight at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Calvin Washington's three-pointer at 14:54, followed by
Deshone Hicks' jumper and a pair of Washington free throws made it a 13-4 Ferrum game early on. Lynchburg responded with a 14-0 run over the next two minutes to surge in front 18-13.
The Hornets would eventually build a 31-23 lead on two Miles Taylor free throws with 4:55 left to go in the first half. Ferrum answered with a 16-5 run, including Hicks' jumper with 45 seconds left to grab a 39-36 lead at the break.
The Panthers exploded in the second half with 16 unanswered points over the first three minutes of play to take a 55-36 lead. Hicks knocked down a three-pointer at 12:52 to give Ferrum its largest lead of the game (21 points) at 67-46. Lynchburg chipped away at the lead and got it down to four points, 76-72, on Cuddah Savage's jumper with 3:21 left in regulation. Ferrum was strong down the stretch, closing with an 11-2 spurt to hold on for the league win.
