Ferrum College Sports Hall of Fame

Purpose

Beginning with the inaugural class of 1994, the Sports Hall of Fame (SHOF) is a program of the Ferrum College Alumni Association and functions with the full endorsement and support of the Alumni and Family Programs Office, the Department of Athletics, and the Office of the President.  The program seeks to recognize those individuals who have distinguished themselves in athletics while attending Ferrum College and who have contributed in a positive manner to society after leaving the College.

Nomination and Selection Criteria

  1. Ferrum College Sports Hall of Fame nominees and finalists must exemplify the highest ideals of small college athletics and sportsmanship, and the spirit of Ferrum's motto "Not Self, But Others."
  2. Nominees and finalists must have excelled in one or more sports while at Ferrum, and then have gone on to achieve significant success in a career field. 
  3. Nominees and finalists must be graduates of the College or have attended Ferrum Junior College for two or more semesters or have attended Ferrum College (as a four-year institution) for four or more semesters. 
  4. Prior to being nominated and recognized, individual inductees and team members must have graduated from Ferrum ten or more years ago or, in the case of transfers and other non-graduates, left the College ten or more years ago.     
  5. In extraordinary cases, entire teams may be nominated and inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame (SHOF) with the approval of the SHOF Selection Committee and the Alumni Board of Directors.  
  6. The President of Ferrum College will have final approval of all nominations and the selection of all finalists.
