FERRUM, Virginia -- Shenandoah University beat Ferrum College 63-42 on Senior Day in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball action this afternoon at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Prior to the start of the game, the team honored two graduating players, Cameron Hawkins and Camille Mangum, with a Senior Day ceremony.
Shenandoah jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first quarter with 4:33 to go. Ferrum used a 10-0 run to close out the quarter and take a 15-11 lead after one quarter of play. Aisha Martin had 7 of her 14 points during Ferrum's run to close out the quarter.
The second quarter was all Hornets, they outscored the Panthers 17-9 and held them to just 2-14 from the field. Olivia Weinel and Shawnise Campbell combined for 11 of their teams 17 points in the quarter. Shenandoah took the lead 28-24 going into the half.
In the third quarter both teams went back and forth until the Hornets took a seven point lead, 38-31 with just over five minutes to play. Ferrum brought the deficit to within five at the end of the quarter, trailing 40-35 heading to the final quarter.
The fourth quarter was all Shenandoah, they used a commanding 15-2 run to give them a 55-37 lead with under four minutes to play. Martin sank a pair of free throws to stop the Panthers scoring drought. Kayla Cabiness sank three free throws to close out the scoring for the Panthers. Neither team would score in the final minute.

Coach Bryan Harvey's team will be back in action Tuesday, February 22, at Bridgewater College with a 7:00pm start time. This will be a first round game in the ODAC Tournament, with the winner advancing to the second round in Salem, Virginia.
