LAGRANGE, Georgia -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference football game to LaGrange College today on the road, falling 44-38 at Callaway Stadium.

THE BASICS
The two teams traded scores midway through the first quarter for a 7-7 score. LaGrange added a 40-yard field goal by Alex Rivera at 4:22 of the first quarter to give LaGrange a 10-7 lead after one.
Zac Smiley had two touchdown runs in the second quarter for Ferrum and hauled in another, while LaGrange scored twice for a 28-24 Ferrum lead at the break. LaGrange scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to surge back out in front 38-28 after three.
Daniel Lamb hauled in a 12-yard scoring strike from
Jesper Korkalainen at 11:58 of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 38-35. LaGrange answered with a 29-yard TD run by Aubrey Carter to extend the lead to 44-35 with 4:23 left in regulation. Ferrum placekicker
Seth Deaton split the uprights from 26 yards out with 37 seconds left to make it 44-38. Ferrum was unsuccessful in recovering the ensuing onside kick and LaGrange ran the clock out for the win.
