Guilford Tops Ferrum Men in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, North Carolina -- Ferrum College's men's basketball trailed by four points at the break, before losing to Guilford College 61-47 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play tonight at Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse.

THE BASICS
Guilford led 10-5 early on, but the Panthers responded with a 5-1 run to make it 11-10 on Calvin Washington's pair of free throws at the 10:22 mark of the first half. The Quakers extended the lead to 15-10, but Johnny Franklin's three pointer and layup a few minutes later  tied the game at 15-15 with just under four minutes remaining in the half.

Tahli Oden's three-pointer at 1:51 tied the game at 18-18, but the Quakers got a pair of free throws from Luke Proctor and a layup by Tyler Dearman to take the 22-18 lead into the locker room.

Oden hit a jumper at 13:12 of the second half to cut Guilford's lead to 30-27, only to see Guilford go on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes to extend the lead to 31-27.

Rob Littlejohn's layup with 7:44 left to play gave Guilford its largest lead of the game, 47-30, and the Quakers hung on from there to earn their 20th win of the season.

NEXT UP
Coach Patrick Corrigan's team closed out regular season play with tonight's loss. The Panthers will be back in action Tuesday, February 21, in an ODAC Tournament play-in game. The league office will make a tournament pairings announcement soon.
