NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The Ferrum College football team fell 31-20 in their season opener to Muskingum University in non-conference play today at Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.

THE BASICS
Seth Deaton's 35-yard field goal in the second quarter gave Ferrum a 3-0 lead. Muskingum answered with a 5-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-3 lead in the second quarter.
Braxton Hughes six yard keeper put the Panthers up 10-7 with just over five minutes to play in the second half. The Fighting Muskies took the lead, 14-10 with over a minute left in the half on a touchdown from Travis Roberson.
Doug Crawford threw and ran for a score in the third quarter to give Muskingum a 28-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
EJ Bratcher's nine yard touchdown catch brought the Panthers back within two scores. Deaton's second field goal of the game, from 40-yards out with four minutes remaining cut the lead down to 8-20. Hunter Albers 40 yard field goal with 46 seconds remaining sealed a 31-20 victory for Muskingum.
