SALEM, Virginia-- Ferrum College's Volleyball went 1-1 on the first day of the Maroon Classic, hosted by Roanoke College. Ferrum lost the first match 3-0 to Methodist University and then swept North Carolina Wesleyan University 3-0 in the second match.

FERRUM vs. Methodist
In the first match of the day, Methodist opened set up 6-0 and led the entire set. The Monarchs closed it out with four straight points. In the second match, both teams traded the lead back and forth, until Methodist scored five points in a row to lead 14-10. The third set, Methodist used a 12-4 rally to take control of the game. Ferrum used a five point rally to close the lead to 14-9. The Monarchs closed the set on a 11-9 rally, winning the game on a kill from Aniyah Tate.

Ferrum led 10-3 early in the game, before the Bishops came back within one, 18-17. The Panthers scored three straight points to make it 21-17 and scored the final two points of the game to win the first set. The Battling Bishops led 10-8 in the second set, Ferrum would then score six straight points to take a 14-10 lead. Ferrum closed the set out on a 10-2 rally, ending with an
Alex Christoff Kill and a Walker assist. The third set was close, with Ferrum not getting more than a five point lead. Waltrip finished the game with a kill from
Kenzee Chaffin.
