FERRUM, Virginia --
Aisha Martin converted a layup in the waning moments of the game to score her 1000th career point as Ferrum College picked up a non-conference women's basketball win over Warren Wilson College, 68-33, tonight at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Ferrum steamrolled its way to a 13-0 lead to open the game, with three baskets by Martin, one each by
Allyson Cassell and
Kleiauna Riddick, and a pair of free throws by
Taryn Blankenship. Zoey Gore got Warren Wilson on the scoreboard when she made one of two free throws, and the opening quarter would end with Ferrum on top 14-3.
Ferrum used an 18-3 run in the second quarter to grab a 34-7 lead at 3:44 on a Martin three-pointer, then closed out the first on top 38-14.
The Panthers stayed out in front the entire second half, eventually opening their largest lead, 36 points, on Tabithaa Miller's layup with 16 seconds left in regulation.
Martin becomes Ferrum's 23rd women's basketball player to score 1000 points, and currently has 1001 career points.
