SALEM, Virginia -- Ferrum College fell 52-46 to Oglethorpe University Sunday, December 29, in the first round of the 2024 Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic, hosted by Roanoke College at the Cregger Center.

THE BASICS
Oglethorpe jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, only to see Ferrum come back and tie the game at 10-10 on an
Allessandria Thomas three-pointer with 2:35 remaining in the opening quarter.
Aisha Martin gave Ferrum its first lead on the Panthers' next trip down the floor, burying a three-pointer to make it 13-10 with 1:59 left in the quarter. The Stormy Petrels used a 8-2 run to close out the first with an 18-15 lead.
The second quarter was a defensive battle, with Ferrum outscoring Oglethorpe 8-7, but trailing 25-23 at the break. The two teams scored 13 points each in the third quarter, making it a 38-36 game headed into the fourth.
Oglethorpe used a 6-0 run to open the fourth and led 44-36 at 8:43.
Allyson Cassell tipped in a missed
Taryn Blankenship jumper, trimming the lead to 44-42 at 5:48, but that's as close as Ferrum would get.
