Ferrum Beats Shenandoah by 25 on Senior Day

FERRUM, Virginia -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team defeated Shenandoah University 84-59 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on senior day inside Swartz Gym this afternoon.

THE BASICS
Seniors Abe Bell and Tahli Oden both knocked down 3-pointers as Ferrum opened the game on a 10-2 run. Evan Mackle hit a jumper for Shenandoah, cutting the lead to its smallest margin of the game 13-11. Charles Tart III converted a three-point play, to give Ferrum a 26-16 lead with seven minutes left in the first half.

Five of the Panthers final seven baskets came curtesy of an assist. Ferrum's defense held the Hornets to just two points over the final four minutes of play. Calvin Washington's pull-up jumper pushed the lead to 42-27, going into the half.

Ferrum's first four baskets of the second half came by way of assist, to help build the lead to 17, 50-33 with 14:25 to play in the game. Bryant Wall scored six straight points for the Panthers, putting the lead back over 20 points, 65-41 with 7:24 remaining in the game. Tart III threw down a monstrous dunk over a Hornet defender, coming from a great pass from Oden, growing the lead to 26, 72-46. 

Senior Marcus Neal scored five straight points for Ferrum, extending the lead to 81-52 with 2:15 left in the regular season finale. James McCreary's 3-pointer got the crowd on it's feet, capping off an impressive 25 point win for the Panthers on senior day.
