Ferrum Men Drop ODAC Road Contest

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia -- Ferrum College men's basketball team fell on the road this afternoon, 72-56 to Virginia Wesleyan University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

THE BASICS
Darwin Randolph's steal led to an easy layup and Bryant Wall's two jumpers put Ferrum ahead 6-2 just over one minute into the game. Miles Wallace hit a 3-pointer, giving Virginia Wesleyan their first lead of the game, 10-8 and did not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game.

Jikari Johnson's jumper and 3-pointer pulled the Panthers within two twice with 10 minutes to play in the first half. Paul Anderson's jumper for the Marlins with 2:02 remaining in the first half, pushed the lead to ten 36-26. VWU held a double digit lead going into halftime 41-30. 

Down by 15 just over a minute into the start of the second half, Ferrum used a 8-0 run to pull with seven, capped by Tahli Oden's layup with 16:09 on the clock. VWU responded with a 11-3 run over the next six minutes, giving them a double digit 56-40 with just under 11 minutes left in the game. 

Braden Justice's pair of free throws gave the Marlins their largest lead of the game, 72-46 and their final points of the game with 3;37 remaining. Ferrum closed out the game on a 10-0 run the final three and half minutes.
