Ferrum Men Earn Tie at Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Ferrum College salvaged a tie with Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action tonight on the road, with a final 1-1 score this afternoon at Tate Field.

THE BASICS
Lees-McRae struck first with an unassisted goal by Landon Robbins at the 38-minute mark.

Ferrum wasted little time in evening the count at 1-1, with Chase LaSasso sending a ball into the back of the net at 41:41. The two teams played scoreless in the second half to end in a tie, the fifth draw this season for the Bobcats.

HOMECOMING
The game was a Homecoming of sorts for Ferrum Head Coach Matt Cureton and Assistant Coach James Morgan, who graduated from Lees-McRae in 2015 and 2018, respectively. It was the first time either has coached against his alma mater.

Cureton's team will be back on the pitch Saturday, October 4, at home against Barton College at 7:00 p.m. The Conference Carolinas game will be part of a doubleheader in which the Ferrum women will face Barton at 4:30 p.m.
