THE BASICS
Zamari Copley picked off an errant pass by Erskine's Ryan Kilmer and returned it to the EC five yard line. Two plays later, Lee scored the first of his three touchdowns on the day with a 2-yard run up the middle and Ferrum was on top 7-0 at 11:37 of the first quarter.

The Flying Fleet answered six minutes later with a one-yard run by Kylan Simmons, but the PAT failed and Ferrum remained on top 7-6. Ryan Schmidt made it a 14-6 game when he blocked an Erskine punt, scooped up the loose ball and fought his way into the end zone at 5:18 of the first quarter. Logan Coldren scored the first of his three touchdowns for Erskine on a two-yard rush three minutes later, and the 2-point conversion failed to make the score 14-12 Ferrum.

Lee scored his second TD of the day on a one-yard rush to open the second quarter, and Jon Davis knocked the PAT through the uprights for the third time in as many attempts to make it a 21-12 game.

Erskine would not go quietly, with Rodshaun Dorsey hauling in a 48-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Kilmer and a successful 2-point conversion trimmed the lead to 21-20. Ferrum answered with an 18-yard touchdown reception by BJ Tate-Blanks from Eli Foutz with 22 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 28-20 lead at the break.

Lee scored his third touchdown of the day on a two-yard rumble up the middle and Davis' PAT extended Ferrum's lead to 35-20 with 7:51 left in the third quarter. Coldren scored his second touchdown on a 17-yard run at 6:18 of the third quarter and his third TD on a one-yard run at 11:42 of the fourth to narrow the gap to 35-33. The Flying Fleet got the ball back with less than 30 seconds left in regulation, moving it to the EC 24 yard line. A hail-Mary pass with no time remaining was batted away by Ferrum's Marquis Adams to seal the win.
