THE BASICS
Prior to the match, Ferrum honored
Kalee Bunn with a pregame Senior Day ceremony.
Catherine Bennett's kill early on tied the opening set at 5-5. The Patriots used a 13-5 run from there to take a commanding 18-10 lead and cruised to the first set win and a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, Francis Marion got out to a big lead before
Renee Dove's kill off a
Harleigh Propst set stopped a big rally and trim the score to 14-6. The Patriots never looked back from there, winning the final four points of the set, the final two on Ferrum attack errors, to take a 2-0 lead.
Ferrum trailed 4-3 in the third and final set when FMU used a 10-2 spurt to extend the lead to 14-5. A Dove kill off another Propst set got the score down to 14-6 again, but Francis Marion used an 11-6 run to close out the set and match.
