FERRUM, Va. – Ferrum College dropped its Conference Carolinas men's basketball opener tonight at home to Chowan University, falling 84-71 at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Ferrum jumped out to the early lead and held its widest margin, 32-24, on a
Gerren Jones layup at 3:44 of the first half. The Hawks used an 8-0 run to close the half and the score was tied 32-32 at the break.
Six lead changes happened in the second half, with the Panthers holding their final lead, 54-52, on a Jones three-pointer at the 10:30 mark. The Hawks took the lead for good on Dapo Kruyswijk's three-pointer to make it a 55-54 game with 10:18 left to play.
