Ferrum's Dixon, Beckner Named All-State in Wrestling

FERRUM, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the 2025 College Division Wrestling All-State Team, and Ferrum College seniors Rayshawn Dixon and Zach Beckner have been included. Dixon was named to the VaSID All-State first team in the 285 pound weight class, while Beckner earned All-State second team honors.

Both wrestlers garnered their second All-State selections. Beckner was a VaSID All-State second team selection in 2017, while Dixon earned second team a year ago. Dixon is just ferrum's third All-State first team selection, joining Nick Rodriguez, a first team pick in 2018, and current Assistant Wrestling Coach Levi Englman, who earned first team in 2020.

Roanoke's Mark Samuel was named VaSID Wrestler of the Year after capping his junior year with an NCAA title at 141 pounds. Samuel posted an impressive 33-4 record this season with five pins en route to his national title. Teammate Jonah Paulino shared Rookie of the Year honors with W&L's Carter Stack. Roanoke's Nate Yetzer earned Coach of the Year.

Dixon capped his career with a 31-3 record in 2024-25, including six pins, five tech falls and nine major decisions. His 133-30 overall record is tops at Ferrum for career wins, and he had 37 career pins as part of his stat line. Dixon was a three-time NCAA qualifier and a two-time All-American, including a 4th-place finish this season and a 5th-place finish a year ago.

Beckner finished the season at 22-3, including a 4th-place finish at this year's NCAA Tournament to earn All-America for the second time. He closed his career with a 71-14 career record and is Ferrum's only-ever national runner-up, which he achieved at the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Beckner was named Ferrum's President's Cup winner this year.
