Wins Over UMO and Barton Highlight Flag Football Doubleheader for Ferrum

WILSON, N.C. -- Ferrum College swept its women's flag football doubleheader Saturday, March 14, going 2-0 on the day. The Panthers opened with a dominating 73-6 win over University of Mount Olive, then scored a touchdown in the final minute of play to beat #15 Barton College 37-33 in a nailbiter.

FERRUM vs. MOUNT OLIVE
Ferrum opened the day with a commanding 73-6 victory over Mount Olive, dominating on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Payson Shreeve led the offense, distributing the ball effectively to her receivers and mixing in timely rushes. Ferrum's ground game consistently moved the chains. Mount Olive managed a lone touchdown, but Ferrum's defense was otherwise impenetrable, forcing turnovers and consistently stopping the visitors' offensive drives. The Panthers' balanced attack and defensive discipline highlighted their doubleheader sweep.

FERRUM vs. BARTON
Ferrum edged Barton in a thrilling contest, overcoming an early deficit to pull out a 37-33 win. Shreeve threw for 439 yards and five touchdowns, connecting repeatedly with Macy Taylor (14 receptions, 163 yards, 1 TD) and Samantha Pitzer (8 receptions, 99 yards, 2 TD) to keep the Panthers in striking distance.

The Panthers' defense forced crucial turnovers, including two interceptions by Pitzer and a defensive touchdown by Zy'Breayziah Alexander, which proved pivotal in the fourth quarter. Malaea Lotima-Tonga recorded nine tackles and two quarterback hurries, while Jaden Hiers added five tackles and a sack, helping Ferrum hold on for the narrow win.
