Bobcats Take Two in Softball

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College hosted Frostburg State University in a non-conference doubleheader at VVK Field this afternoon, falling 14-1 in the opener and 4-2 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE
Frostburg State took control early, scoring four runs in the first inning, including a two-run home run by Kylee Piconi. The Bobcats added four more in the second and continued to extend their lead throughout the game, finishing with 14 runs on 16 hits. Ferrum struggled to find offense, collecting just three hits.

Emily Hopper provided the Panthers' lone run with an RBI double in the fifth inning, but it was not enough to overcome the Bobcat onslaught. Frostburg State's Izzy Dietrich earned the win, tossing four innings and allowing only two hits.

GAME TWO
In the second game of the doubleheader, Ferrum fell 4-2 despite a strong effort. Frostburg State scored two runs in the first inning and added another in the second before Ferrum cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning.

The Panthers' rally came with back-to-back singles from Hopper and Laci Garrett, followed by an RBI single from Zoey Snead and a sacrifice fly from Samantha Smith. The Bobcats answered with a run in the top of the sixth, which proved to be the difference in the game.
