Bus Baker joined the Ferrum athletic staff in August 2024 as Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, and will work with first-year Head Coach Andre Kidd. Baker ran cross country and track & field two years at Radford University, one year at University of Louisville and two years at Florida Gulf Coast University.
At Radford, he earned Big South All-Conference in cross country as a sophomore. He also set the Highlanders 8k school record that season, but the record was eclipsed a year later, and posted multiple top-10 times in Radford history. He transferred to Louisville and ran under Coach Eric Heins, who previously led Northern Arizona University to four NCAA Division I men's cross country titles.
Baker transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University, where he posted a top-5 time in school history in the men's 8k and 10k. He was an Atlantic Sun Preseason Runner of the Year in 2023. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience from Florida Gulf Coast in 202
Baker was a research assistant a year at Florida Gulf Coast, and interned a year each at Humana Corporation in Louisville, Kentucky, and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia. He was also a counselor at YMCA Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana.
