FERRUM, Va.--
Jamal Pullen had 30 points on 9-of-11 shooting to lead Ferrum College to a 76-69 non-conference men's basketball win over visiting Emory & Henry College tonight at Swartz Gym.
Ferrum opened a 6-2 lead less than five minutes into the game, but the Wasps came back to tie it 8-8 four minutes later. The Panthers edged out in front by five points on Pullen's layup at 5:39, but Emory & Henry tied the game again at 25-25 on a pair of Myles Turner free throws at 2:05. Pullen would close the half with a pair of layups and Ferrum owned a 29-25 lead at the break.
Coach Bill Tharp's team used a 13-4 run to open the second half to take its largest lead of the game at 41-29.
Rashawn Speas closed the game with 15 points and
Marvin Wilson had 14 points for the Panthers. Turner had 18 points for the Wasps (0-6), while Ryan Gravely and Josh Hess had 11 points each. Ferrum (4-3) returns to action Sunday, Dec. 7, at home against #12 Virginia Wesleyan College. The non-conference game is scheduled to tip off at 2:00 p.m.
