Panther Men Cruise at Home Over Regent

FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's men's basketball team extended it's win streak to four games with a 95-45 non-conference win at home over Regent University this afternoon at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Calvin Washington slammed home two dunks, one off of a steal, another off a turnover to get the home crowd on their feet, forcing Regent to call a timeout just 1:09 into the game. Alfredo Abel-Rivera's free throw with 11;17 to play in the first half gave the Panthers a double digit lead, 23-10 that would stay that way for the remainder of the game.

Jikari Johnson scored 11 of Ferrum's next 19 points during a 19-2 run, pushing the lead to 41-15 with 6:08 to play in the game. Bryant Wall tallied seven points during a 14-4 run to close out the half, taking a 55-19 lead at the break, holding the Royals to zero points the final three and a half minutes.

The second half was all Ferrum, with the Panthers extending the lead to 70-24 on Wall's layup, with 13:26 to play. Defense played a huge role in the win tonight, holding Regent to just 30.5 % from the field and 15.4% from beyond the arc and forcing twenty turnovers by the Royals that led to 24 points for Ferrum.
