FERRUM, Virginia --
Jikari Johnson had a game-high 25 points to lead Ferrum College to an 84-62 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball win over Averett University this afternoon at Swartz Gym. The league win keeps the Panthers perfect thus far at 5-0.

THE BASICS
Tahli Oden's three-pointer at 15:51 of the first half put Ferrum on top 11-2. The Cougars cut the lead to six points on Zach Shumate's layup to make it a 23-17 game with 6:02 left in the half.
Kyree Ellis' layup in the paint with 43 seconds to go in the half extended the Panther lead to 35-22, then Averett's Clay Hodges had a fast break layup for a 35-24 halftime score.
Jamison Graves' three-pointer at 15:05 and pair of free throws at 14:25 of the second half cut the lead to six points, 45-39. Ferrum responded with a 17-9 run that made the score 62-48 on
Bryant Wall's dunk with 8:23 left in the game.
Wall's layup at 1:37 pushed the lead to 18 points, 80-62.
Darwin Randolph's pair of free throws and an Oden layup closed out scoring in the waning seconds. Oden closed the game with an impressive 11 assists and nine points.
