FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College picked up a non-conference men's basketball win this afternoon at home over Greensboro College to improve to 11-1 this season, winning 65-59 at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Ferrum raced out to a 10-2 lead in the first five and a half minutes of play, including three baskets by
Bryant Wall. The Panthers slowly pulled away, opening their largest lead, 32-13, on Alfred Abel-Rivera's jumper at 2:59 of the first half. Greensboro responded with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 32-21 at the break.
Ferrum extended the lead to 18 points at 16:53 of the second half on
Calvin Washington's jumper, then led by the same margin three minutes later when
Alfredo Abel-Rivera's fastbreak layup made the score 45-27.
Greensboro chipped away at the lead late in the game, getting it down to 10 points, 63-53, on Javion Majette's jumper for 29 seconds left in regulation. The Pride then cut it to six points, 65-59, when Grant Thompson sank a pair of free throws in the waning seconds of the game for the final score.
