Ferrum Men Continue Winning Ways Against EMU in ODAC Play

FERRUM, Virginia -- The Ferrum College Men's Basketball team extended their win streak to seven games, beating EMU 73-56 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action this afterrnoon in Swartz Gymnasium.

THE BASICS
EMU jumped out to a 6-2 lead at the 16:45 mark, Ferrum responded six straight points to take a 8-6 lead with 15:28 to play in the first half. Both teams traded the lead for the next several minutes, before Nick Ondrus hit a three-pointer for the Royals giving them a 31-27 lead with 3:16 to play in the half. Tahli Oden's jumper with 51 seconds remaining cut the EMU lead to 34-33. 

After a few minutes of trading baskets, Jikari Johnson's three-pointer with 16:15 on the clock would give Ferrum the lead for good, 43-40. Bryant Wall helped the Panthers defensively, holding the Royals to 22 points in the second half, including four straight blocks all in the span of a minute and a half. Ferrum outscored EMU 13-6 in the final 5:06 of the game, holding the Royals to just one point for over four minutes.

Johnson and Alfredo-Abel Rivera scored 24 and 21 points respectively to lead the Panthers and Bryant Wall added 13 rebounds and six blocks, tying him for second most blocks in a game in Ferrum's record book.
