Panther Men Top WildCats at Home

Ferrum, Virginia -- Ferrum College defeated Randolph College 82-67 in an ODAC men's basketball tonight in Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Mustapha Doip drilled a three pointer from the left side 14:17 in the first half to give Randolph a 9-4 lead. The Panthers went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-9 lead on Alferdo Abel-Rivera's layup at the 12-minute mark

The Wildcats used an 8-2 run to surge back out front, 17-12, Nehemiah Frye's three pointer with 9:23 left in the first half. The Panthers responded with a 15-2 run over the next five minutes, ending with a Darwin Randolph jumper with 4:14 left to make it a 27-19 Ferrum lead. Tahli Oden hit a jumper just before the end of the half to give Ferrum a 32-26 at the break.

The Panthers opened the second half with a 14-3 run, including a three pointer, jumper and layup by Jikari Johnson, and a pair of buckets by Charles Tart III. Johnson had a fastbreak layup with 9:50 left in the game to make it a 24-point lead at 59.35, then 10 seconds later, Zavier Measmer converted a pair of free throws for Ferrums largest lead of the game, 61-35, at 9:50.

The WildCats chipped away at the lead, getting the score down to 13 points on Evan Wiehe's three pointer with 1:59 left to play. Danny Bickey hit a three pointer 40 seconds later to make the score 78-65, then Ferrum held on for it's first win after losing the last five games.
