FERRUM, Virginia --
Alfredo Abel-Rivera led Ferrum College with 11 points and 11 rebounds to help the team earn a 66-54 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball win over Averett University tonight at Swartz Gym. The win was the ODAC opener for both teams and keeps the Panthers perfect at 6-0 overall.

THE BASICS
Ferrum opener a 9-2 lead early on with a three-pointer by
Sterling Charles, a basket each by
Kyree Ellis and
Tae Allen, and a pair of free throws by Abel-Rivera. Averett closed out the first half with a 27-19 run to grab a 29-26 lead at the break.
The Panthers used a 7-0 run to open the second half and take the lead back. Abel-Rivera made a layup and had a free throw, and
Charles Tart III had a pair of buckets to put Ferrum in front 33-29 at the 16:38 mark.
Marcus Willis Jr. converted a layup, then
Bryant Wall sank a pair of free throws and the lead was 43-36 with 12:50 remaining. Ferrum's largest lead was 16 points with 2:10 remaining in regulation on an
Eden Davis jumper to make it a 63-47 game.
