Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina -- Ferrum College picked up its first football win of the season tonight on the road, beating North Carolina Wesleyan University 28-24 in non-conference play at Vernon T. Bradley, Jr. Stadium. Sophomore running back
Jahylen Lee rushed for 119 yards and three scores to lead the Panthers.

THE BASICS
Following a scoreless first quarter,
Zach Wyatt got Ferrum on the scoreboard with a one-yard rush up the middle at 12:21 and
Seth Deaton's PAT gave the Panthers the early 7-0 lead. Anthony Byrd answered for the Battling Bishops with a 15-yard run up the middle at 9:17 of the second and Braxtyn Green's PAT was good was good to tie the game at 7-7.
Chaz Hirschman's 48-yard pass to Christian Drumgoole with Green's PAT made it a 14-7 N.C. Wesleyan lead three minutes later, with the Bishops needing four plays and covering 71 yards. Lee scored his first touchdown of the night on a nine-yard run up the middle with 1:32 left in the first half and
Seth Deaton's PAT tied the game 14-14 at the break.
Hirschman hit Drumgoole with a 28-yard scoring strike to open the third quarter at the 12:38 mark, then Green connected on a 42-yard field goal a few minutes later and the Bishops led 24-14. Lee scored back-to-back touchdowns for the Panthers, on runs of 14 yards and eight yards, to end the third quarter and Ferrum took a 28-24 lead into the fourth.
The two teams played tough defense in the fourth quarter, with N.C. Wesleyan taking over on its own 10-yard line with 3:28 left to play. The Bishops drove to the Ferrum 10-yard line, but Ferrum's defense was rock solid from there, stopping four straight plays to preserve the win. The victory was Coach Kevin Sherman's first career win as a head coach.
