FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College battled hard before dropping a tough four-set volleyball match at home to UNC-Pembroke in Conference Carolinas action. Set scores at Swartz Gym were 21-22, 25-19, 25-14, 25-14.

THE BASICS
Ferrum came our firing in the opening set. The Panthers trailed 3-2, but bounced back with a 8-2 run to take an 11-3 lead on three kills by Renee Dive, two by
Emma Powell and one each by
Sarabeth Johnson and
Danielle Worthy. The Panthers hung on down the stretch to take the set, closing it out with a
Catherine Bennett kill, a Worthy kill and two UNC-Pembroke errors.Â
The second set was tight, with the score knotted at 12-12 when the Braves scored five straight points and held from there to tie the match at 1-1. UNC-Pembroke went on to win the next two sets by identical 25-14 scores to collect the league win.
