FERRUM, Virginia –. Ferrum College Women's Basketball team traveled to Virginia Beach and came away with a hard fought 51-45 win. Ferrum was led by graduate student Aisha Martin's 12 points and Junior Allyson Cassell's 11 points.

THE BASICS
The Marlins opened the game with a basket. Ferrum then went on a 10-0 run and led 17-3 after one. Both teams struggled shooting in the second and Ferrum took a 26-21 lead into the break. The Panthers went cold in the third and Virginia Wesleyan was able to take advantage and even the score heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Martin hit a layup to give the Panthers a 2-point lead and they never looked back going on a 9-0 run. With 4:25 to play, the Marlins Maesyn Blayock hit two free throws to cut the Panther lead to four. The teams exchanged baskets before Virginia Wesleyan's Keagan Schwab hit a three with a one minute remaining to cut Ferrum's lead to just two points. Freshman Maslyn Mobacher hit a jumper and Martin stole the ball with 16 seconds remaining to secure the six point win.
