Wynema Thomas each picked up a win in the circle today and
Riley Young had a deep homer in game one to help Ferrum College earn an ODAC softball sweep over Eastern Mennonite University. The Panthers won the opener 3-1 then took the nightcap 7-1 this afternoon at Vickie Van Kleeck Field.

GAME 1
Sophia Peters drilled an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the first inning to put Ferrum on top 1-0. EMU's Grace Fravel matched that in the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-1. Ferrum answered with a run in the bottom half of the fifth off another Peters RBI single, this one up the middle, and the Panthers led 2-1. In the bottom of the sixth,
Riley Young clocked a 2-2 pitch over the center field fence for the final score of the game.Â
Wood (5-5) picked up her second win in as name starts, tossing a complete seven-inning game with five hits, one earned run, a pair of walks and five strikeouts.
Nicole Emerson went 3-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs and a stolen base. Peters went 2-3 with a pair of RBI.
GAME 2
Ferrum exploded for four runs in the first inning, starting with an RBI single to center by Wood. Peters then doubled down the left field line to push another run across the plate, followed by a
Lexi Bennett RBI single through the left side.
Kaylee Hughes then walked with the bases loaded to account for the fourth run of the frame.Â
The score remained 4-0 into the bottom of the fifth inning, when
Emily Hopper ripped an RBI double to right center, driving in two runs, and
Kenadee McCullough singled through the right side to drive in another run and make it a 7-0 Ferrum lead. Madee Arbaugh broke up the shutout for the Royals when she walked with the bases loaded in the sixth to account for the final score.Â
Thomas (1-1) pitched five and a third innings to get the win, allowing five hits, an earned run and two walks.
Amber Greiner came on to pitch the final inning and two thirds, allowing two hits, no runs or walks, and striking out two batters.

Coach Joshua Freeman's team returns to the skinned infield Saturday, April 5, at Randolph College. The ODAC doubleheader is set for a 2:00 p.m. start in Lynchburg, Virginia.Â
