FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball games today at home to University of Lynchburg, falling 11-1 in five innings in the opener and 4-0 in the nightcap at Vickie Van Kleeck Field.

GAME 1
Lynchburg scored two runs in the first inning, a run in the second and pair in the third to grab a 5-0 lead.
Nicole Emerson's RBI single in the bottom of the third inning allowed
Lexi Bennett to cross the plate for the Panthers' only run. The Hornets added five runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth for the final count. Starter Emily Charlton (8-6) pitched a complete game two-hitter to get the win for Lynchburg, striking out three batters. Bennett and Emerson had a base hit each for Ferrum.
GAME 2
The Hornets broke a scoreless game with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, then tacked on two in the seventh to complete the sweep. Starter Kailey Dorcsis (12-6) pitched a complete game to get the win for Lynchburg, scattering two hits over seven innings and striking out 10 batters. Emerson and
Autumn McMillen had a base hit each for the Panthers.

Coach Joshua Freeman's team will be back in action Saturday, April 26, at Shenandoah University. The ODAC doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start at Rotary Field in Winchester, Virginia.
