FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's volleyball team fell 3-0 tonight at home to North Greenville University in Conference Carolinas play. Set scores at Swartz Gym were 25-14, 25-21, 25-18.

THE BASICS
North Greenville jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set, extended the margin to 15-7 on a Ferrum attack error, then closed it out with a 10-7 run to take 1-0 lead.
In the second set,
Emma Powell's kill off a
Harleigh Propst set cut NGU's lead to 16-14. A few minutes later, the Trailblazers had a pair of attack errors and Ferrum was again within two points at 22-20. With the score then 24-21, Powell helped Ferrum stave off a set point with a kill, but Anna Fiddelke's kill on the next point gave NGU the set and a 2-0 lead.
In the third set, Ferrum broke a 10-10 stalemate when
Catherine Bennett hammed a ball down the left side off a
Kalee Bunn set to put the Panthers out in front 11-10. The Trailblazers used a 4-0 mini-run to go back out in front 14-11. A Bennett kill and an NGU attack error got Ferrum back to within a point at 14-13, but North Greenville used an 11-5 run to close out the set and match.
