Softball Splits in Wise

WISE, Va. — Ferrum College split a pair of non-conference softball games on the road this afternoon, beating Fairmont State University 16-8 in the opener and losing to host UVA Wise 6-5 in the nightcap at Bill Gatton Field.

GAME ONE
Against Fairmont State, Abby Bradberry's three-run homer to right field was part of a five-run first inning for Ferrum. Kelsey Marshall's three-run homer to center field in the fourth inning put the Panthers up 11-3. Her triple to right field in the seventh inning drove in the Panthers' final run. Emily Wood got her first win of the season in the circle, while Amber Greiner earned her first save.

GAME TWO
UVA Wise led 4-0 after three innings. Marshall hit a two-run homer down the left field line in the fourth inning to trim the lead to 4-2. The Panthers scored three runs in the sixth inning on Payton Evans' three-run homer to left field to take a 5-4 lead. The Highland Cavaliers tied the game with a run in the sixth, and Taylor Noe scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Ferrum fielding error.
