FERRUM, Va. – The Ferrum College women's basketball team picked up a Conference Carolinas win at home over Shorter University, winning 63-61 on a late three-pointer this afternoon at Swartz Gym.

SENIOR DAY
Prior to the game, the Panthers honored graduating players with a Senior Day ceremony. Players honored include

THE BASICS
The first quarter was tight, with the two teams tied 11-11 with just under two minutes left in the quarter.
Maslyn Mosbacher's layup to close the first gave the Panthers a 16-13 lead.
After being tied 19-19 early in the second quarter, Ferrum began to slowly pull away.
Jordan Fisher's free throw at 3:28 made it a 32-21 Ferrum lead, then Mosbacher's three-pointer from the right side made it a 35-23 lead at 1:29.
Breyana Kimmons' layup with four seconds left in the quarter gave Ferrum a 40-28 lead at the break.
Shorter used an 11-3 run to open the third quarter, getting the score down to 43-41 on Aijah Manning's pull-up jumper. The Hawks would go on to outscore Ferrum 23-9 in the third to take a 51-49 lead after three full quarters.
Mosbacher drilled a three-pointer from the right side to open the fourth and give the Panthers a 52-51 lead.
Breyana Kimmons had two layups and
Kleiauna Riddick had one to give Ferrum a 58-55 lead with 6:14 left. Manning had a driving layup for Shorter at 4:48 to cut it to 58-57, then Kalyn Williams made one of two free throws to even things at 58-58 with 3:47 left to play.
Taryn Blankenship was fouled at 2:45 and made one of two free throws and
Allyson Cassell did the same to put the Panthers up 60-58 with 1:19 left in regulation. Amayi Redus made a short jumper to tie the game at 60-60, then Manning made one of two free throws to put Shorter up 61-60 with 18.2 seconds showing on the clock.
Riddick took a pass from Blankenship and knocked down a three-pointer from the right side with 8.7 seconds left for a 63-61 Ferrum lead. The Hawks had a shot roll off the rim to end the game.
