PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Ferrum College was swept by UNC Pembroke in a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader this afternoon at Willoughby Field. The Panthers fell 10-0 in the opener, then dropped the nightcap 4-2.

GAME ONE
UNC Pembroke took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding five more in the third. Makayla Etling provided the big blow with a two-run homer in the third, followed by a triple and a series of timely hits that extended the lead to 10-0 by the end of the fourth inning. Ferrum was held to just one hit in the game, with
Kelsey Marshall recording the lone single.

GAME TWO
In the nightcap, UNC Pembroke scored two runs in the third inning for the early lead. Kaitlyn King doubled to set up a run-scoring single from Alex Serbio, and Kaitlynn Hunt added an RBI single to make it 2-0. Ferrum responded in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Samantha Smith and
Zoey Snead led off with back-to-back singles, and after a pinch-hit single by
Carly Constantino,
Sadie Smith brought in the first run with a sacrifice fly.
Abby Bradberry followed with an RBI single, scoring Snead to bring Ferrum within a run. UNC Pembroke answered in the bottom half of the inning with an insurance run when Emma Wrenn walked, stole second, and scored on a groundout by Chloe Locklear.
