Ferrum Rolls Past Geneva

FERRUM, Va. – The Ferrum College Panthers women's lacrosse team rolled to a 23–3 victory over the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes Monday afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. Lana Barkovic led the Panthers with nine goals and three assists, while Micaiyah Dickerson added five goals and an assist. Caroline Moore contributed three goals and two assists, and Makaila Veney and Alaia Beckwith each scored twice for Ferrum.

THE BASICS
Ferrum jumped out to a quick start, scoring six times in the opening quarter to take a 6–0 lead. Moore paced the early offense with three first-quarter goals, while Beckwith added two scores and Noelle LaCharite also found the back of the net. The Panthers continued their momentum in the second quarter, adding five more goals to extend the lead to 11–1 at halftime. Barkovic scored twice during the period and assisted on two others, while Dickerson tallied three goals in the quarter. Mara Fowlow scored the Golden Tornadoes' first goal late in the half on a free-position attempt.

Ferrum kept the pressure on in the third quarter with seven goals. Barkovic added three more scores during the period, while Veney and Maggie Cass each contributed a goal. Geneva answered with two goals in the quarter from Julianna Easley and Taylor Robinson, with Robinson scoring off an assist from Brianna Thompson. The Panthers closed the game with five goals in the fourth quarter, including two from Barkovic and two from Dickerson, to secure the 23–3 win.

Barkovic finished with nine goals on 13 shots to lead all scorers, while Dickerson recorded five goals on eight shots. Moore totaled five points on three goals and two assists, and Veney controlled the draw circle with eight draw controls to go along with a goal and an assist. Defensively, Ferrum limited Geneva to eight shots and just two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Faith Feazell earned the win in net for the Panthers.
