FERRUM, Va. -- Director of Athletics Cleive Adams has announced the hiring of Breanna Weaver as Assistant Softball Coach. Weaver will work with third-year Head Coach Josh Freeman as the Panthers transition into the NCAA Division II ranks.

Weaver played softball four years for the Panthers from 2021-24, and was a member of the cheerleading squad two years. She earned softball All-Conference in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 2022 and 2024 as an infielder.

Weaver earned ODAC All-Academic honors all four years, as well Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State in 2024. She was Ferrum's Co-Female Athlete of the Year at the end of the 2023-24 school year.

Ferrum opens the 2026 softball season Tuesday, February 10, at home with a non-conference doubleheader against University of Virginia at Wise. The Panthers open Conference Carolinas league play Tuesday, March 3, with a doubleheader at University of Mount Olive.
