VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia – The Ferrum College women's lacrosse team lost 8-3 to Virginia Wesleyan. The Marlins closed the game on a 6-0 run after the Panthers took the lead 3-2 with less than a minute to go in the first half.
Makaila Veney had an outstanding defensive game, recording 8 caused turnovers, 8 ground balls and 5 draw controls.

THE BASICS
Virginia Wesleyan got on the board first off a free position shot by Reese Morgenthaler. The Panthers answered when freshman
Lana Barkovic found the back of the net on a free position shot with 1:55 remaining in the first quarter. After a Marlin goal in the second quarter, the Panthers scored two goals to take a 3-2 lead with 18 seconds remaining in the half.
Maggie Cass scored an unassisted goal and then
Caroline Moore took a feed from
Micaiyah Dickerson.
The Marlins knotted the score at 3 heading into intermission. In the second half, Virginia Weslyean outscored the Panther 5-0 to get the win. Freshman
Cayden West made four saves in the net for the Panthers.
