FERRUM, Virginia - Ferrum College's lacrosse team beat Guilford in an evenly contested match up. The Panthers outscored the Quakers 4-1 in the fourth quarter to win 17-16.

Ashtyn Bishop led Ferrum with five goals apiece.

THE BASICS
The first quarter went back and forth and ended in a 5-5 tie. With 12:54 remaining in the half, Bishop scored to put the Panthers ahead 7-5. The Quakers then went on a 7-0 run to stretch their lead to 12-7. Just before intermission,
Caroline Moore found the back of the net to pull the Panthers to within four. With eight minutes remaining in the third, Barkovic scored her fifth goal of the game, picking up a ground ball and taking it all the way to the bank. That goal pulled the Panthers even with the Quakers. The fourth period saw four different Panthers score. Guilford's Kylie Wood scored with 1:05 remaining to pull Guilford within one. The crucial next draw was won by Ferrum's
Makaila Veney, her 9th of the game, allowing Ferrum to run the clock out.

Cayden West made 14 saves in the win. Defensively, Veney had four caused turnovers and six ground balls.
