FERRUM, Virginia -- The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Association has announced its 2025 College Division Baseball All-State Team, and Ferrum College's Kyle Markowitz has been included among the Commonwealth's top players.

A 2025 Ferrum graduate from Hiton Head Island, South Carolina, Markowitz was named to the VaSID All-State second team as an outfielder. In May, he earned ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

Bridgewater College's Nick Stravos earned VaSID Baseball Player of the Year, while Shenandoah University's Kiam Stewart earned Rookie of the Year. University of Lynchburg's Tyler Kaltreider and Travis Beazley earned Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Markowitz batted .388 this season, going 40-for-103 at the plate with 34 runs, six doubles, two triples, four home runs and 27 RBI. Markowitz was successful in 10 of 11 stolen base attempts, and closed the season with a .602 slugging percentage, .515 on-base percentage and .968 fielding percentage.

Markowitz excelled off the field as well, earning President's List in each of the four semesters he attended Ferrum. He earned seven Best of SNO National Writing Awards from School Newspapers Online, was editor three semesters for Ferrum's Iron Blade newspaper. Markowitz helped the Iron Blade win a National Championship in 2024. He also hosted and aired 20 "The Panthers Pulse" radio shows on Ferrum College Radio.

Markowitz graduated in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Media & Communications and a minor in Journalism. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Markowitz was coached this season by first-year Head Coach Eric Owens. The Panthers finished 20-22 overall and qualified for the 2025 ODAC Baseball Tournament in May. Ferrum will leave the NCAA Division III ranks and the ODAC this summer, reclassifying as an NCAA Division II institution and competing as a member of Conference Carolinas in all sports starting in Fall 2025.
