FERRUM, Va. -- Family, friends, and alumni at Ferrum College are deeply saddened with the passing of Roy Clark over the weekend. A former baseball standout for the Panthers, he went on to a career as a professional baseball scout. Clark was 68 years old.
Considered by many as one of the best talent evaluators in the game of baseball, Clark served in various roles with the Atlanta Braves from 1989-2009, including Special Assistant to the General Manager and later as Senior Advisor to Amateur Scouting.
Clark left the Braves organization in 2009, joining the Washington Nationals as Vice President of Player Personnel and Assistant General Manager. He remained with the Nationals until 2013. In 2022, he became a senior advisor for the Kansas City Royals.
