FERRUM, Virginia -- The 2024-25 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State Team honorees have been announced. Among the honorees are six Ferrum College student-athletes.
VaSID annually announces an Academic All-State Team, comprised of six student-athletes from each school. Qualifications include sophomore academic standing and a a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average. The 2024-25 VaSID Academic All-State Team recognized 216 student-athletes from 36 institutions across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Among Ferrum's honorees this year are women's soccer Academic All-American,
Bri Bitz, Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year,
Kyle Markowitz, and two-time All-American wrestler
Zach Beckner. Also honored are
Ian Ashworth (football),
Christian Sorrells (football) and
Makaila Veney (women's lacrosse). This is Veney's second such honor.
