WINCHESTER, Va. -- Coach Bill Tharp needed another big second half from his team and got it as Ferrum College overcame a 12-point second-half deficit and posted a 57-54 USA South men's basketball win over Shenandoah University Feb. 19 on the road.

Ferrum trailed 31-24 at halftime, then was down 42-30 with just over 15 minutes left in the second half before mounting a comeback with a 27-12 run from there.
Sophomore
Jerrell Wade led Ferrum in scoring with 17 points. Senior
Jon Godsey had nine points, while freshman sensation
Derek Mitchell had nine points and ruled the boards with 16 rebounds.
Shenandoah (15-8, 5-5 USA South) was led by Jeremiah Lawrence's 13 points and 20 rebounds. Stevie Johns had 12 points, while Kenny Cooke had 11.
Ferrum (13-11, 7-4 USA South) is now in position to claim a share of the USA South title with a win Saturday, Feb. 23, at home over North Carolina Wesleyan College in its regular-season finale. The Panthers are a half-game ahead of Methodist University, which is 6-4 in the league standings with two games remaining.
