FERRUM, Va. -- Randolph College defeated Ferrum College 65-61 in non-conference men's basketball tonight at Swartz Gymnasium.
Malcolm Nelson led the Wildcats with 14 points on 4-9 shooting. Derrick Woods-Morrow added 13 points and eight rebounds.Â
Ferrum (0-2) got 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers, his second double-double in as many games this season. Mitchell shot 10-15 from the floor and was 7-11 from the free-throw line.
Ferrum jumped out to an 8-0 lead, only to see Randolph go on a 14-3 spurt to take its first lead of the game. The Wildcats led 36-32 at the break.
Ferrum out-rebounded Randolph (2-0) 37-35. The Panthers return to action Nov. 21-22 at the New York University Tip-Off Tournament. Coach Bill Tharp's team will face host NYU Saturday at 3 p.m. The team wil then play in either the consolation or championship game Sunday at 1 p.m. or 3 p.m.
