LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee University opened a 37-21 halftime lead and went on to beat Ferrum College 76-62 in non-conference men's basketball action tonight in Lexington.
Daryl Hart led Ferrum with 17 points on 7-15 shooting from the floor. Hart connected on three of his six attempts from behind the three-point arc, and was 5-8 from the line.
Jerrell Wade had 15 points and three assists for the Panthers, while
Nick English had 13 points and
Garry Brandt had 12.
Washington and Lee (6-2) got 20 points from Zac White, who went 7-7 from the line. Jason Cimino and Jon Guest had 13 and 11 points for the Generals, respectively.
W&L out-rebounded Ferrum 38-29, and went 17-22 from the line. Ferrum was 6-9 from the line. Both teams shot just under 47% from the floor.
Ferrum (5-5) will be back in action this weekend at the Morris Creggar Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College Jan. 2-3. Coach Bill Tharp's team will face Defiance (Ohio) College Saturday at 5 p.m. in Salem, Virginia. The consolation and championship games are set for Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Ohio Wesleyan University and host Roanoke are the other participants.
