BRIDGEWATER, Va. --
Derek Mitchell had 24 points and 25 rebounds to lead Ferrum College to a 90-77 non-conference men's basketball win over Bridgewater College tonight on the road.
Mitchell's 25-rebound performance is a new career high for the senior from Newport News, and the seventh time posting a 20+ rebound night. The Panthers out-rebounded Bridgewater 49-42. Mitchell also added three blocked shots, four assists and a steal.
Keith Crump had 19 points and seven assists for Ferrum, while
Marcus Mayo had 16 points. Rick Maloney led the Eagles (4-7) with 25 points and seven rebounds and was the only player in double-figure scoring.
Ferrum (7-0) is at home Thursday, Dec. 16, against Piedmont College. The non-conference game gets underway at 2 p.m. in Swartz Gymnasium. Coach Bill Tharp's team will then host Lancaster Bible College Saturday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m.
