FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College built a 13-point lead five minutes into the second half, only to see Greensboro College cut the lead to four points late in the game, but the Panthers held on for a 69-61 USA South men's basketball win tonight at home.

Derek Mitchell posted another impressive double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, both game high totals. Mitchell added a pair of blocka and three steals in the win.

Marcus Mayo (Rickbridge County) had 14 points and Keith Crump had 10. Damian Dixon led the Pride (7-6, 1-1 USA South) with 17 points. Adamm Powell and Daren Dexter had 13 and 10 points each, respectively in the loss.

Ferrum (14-1, 3-0 USA South) returns to action Saturday, Jan. 15, at Christopher Newport University. The USA South doubleheader tips off at 2 p.m. with the women's game, while the men follow at 4 p.m. Christopher Newport is the defending USA South Tournament champion, having won the league's post-season tournament a year ago at home before advancing to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
