FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up a 98-84 non-conference men's basketball win at home this afternoon over Bridgewater College. The Panthers shot 54% from the floor, including 60% in the first half.
Ferrum led by 12 a number of times in the first half, including a 49-37 halftime lead. Coach Bill Tharp's team widened the gap to 20 points, taking a 63-43 lead at the 14:53 mark on
Charles Warren's steal and breakaway dunk.
Nick English led all scorers with 20 points on 8-10 shooting, and added five rebounds. Warren had 19 points, a new career high for the junior forward.
Marcus Mayo added 17 points, seven assists and three steals, and
Daryl Hart added 15 points.
Aaron Adams led the Eagles with 17 points. Ronnie Thomas and Ed Reddick had 12 points each, and Kenneth Waugh had 11 points. Bridgewater (4-4) won the battle of the boards, 36-32.
Ferrum (5-4) returns to action Friday and Saturday, Dec. 30-31, with a pair of non-conference home games. The Panthers face LaGrange Friday at 2 p.m., with the Ferrum women hosting Washington and Lee University afterward at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Tharp's squad hosts Covenant College at 1 p.m.
