Lamont King had 18 points and
Marcus Mayo had 17 as Ferrum College picked up an 80-71 USA South men's basketball win this afternoon over Shenandoah University on the road.
Nick English added 14 points for the Panthers (8-5, 1-1 USA South).
Shenandoah grabbed an early four-point lead but the Panthers tied the game the game at 9-9 on a layup by King. Ferrum eventually built a 45-36 halftime lead en route to its first league win this season. The Hornets got to within a point of tying the game a number of times in the second half but Frrum never relinquished the lead in holding on for the win.
Averey Green had 26 points and eigt rebounds for Shenandoah (3-11, 1-1 USA South). Dominic Chappell had nine points and Bryce Mitchell had nine and eight points, respectively. The Hornets outrebounded Ferrum 32-30.
