FERRUM, Va. -- Randolph-Macon College raced out to a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game and never looked back in handing Ferrum College an 81-57 non-conference men's basketball loss this afternoon at Swartz Gym.
Five players scored in double figures for the Yellow Jackets, led by Lamar Giggetts with 15 points, Dylan Cole with 12 and Connor Sullivan with 11. Andre Simon and Marcus Badger had 10 points each for the Yellow Jackets (1-3). Randolph-Macon shot 54% from the floor, while holding Ferrum to 36%, and outrebounded the Panthers 42-37.
Lamont King had nine points and eight rebounds for Ferrum.
Alek Ayer and
Shon Goode chipped in nine points each. It was the first time in four games this season that no Ferrum player scored in double figures.
J.D. Wallace had seven points, while
Marshall Hamilton had six points and five assists.
Jordan Mann and
Jamal Pullen each contributed six points in the loss.
Ferrum (2-2) returns to action Saturday, Dec. 1, on the road against Greensboro College. The USA South opener gets underway at 2:00 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. Coach Bill Tharp's team returns to Swartz Gym Monday, Dec. 3, for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game against Washington and Lee University.
